Travel

Participants are responsible for arranging their own transportation to the national summer institute, and back home.

Arrival and Departure

Please plan to check in no later than 12:00 pm (Pacific Time) on Monday, July 11. The check-in process is being updated to accommodate health and safety protocols. Please check back for more updated information as the institute nears.

During the institute, you will be spending nearly all of your time on campus. However, on Wednesday evening institute activities wrap up at approximately 5:00 pm, allowing teams an evening off. Restaurants in Olympia are 4-5 miles from campus. Local transportation options are described below.

The institute ends at approximately 8:00 pm (Pacific Time) on Thursday, July 14. Room check-out is Friday, July 15, by 10:00 am (Pacific Time).

From SeaTac International Airport

The closest airport, SeaTac (Seattle-Tacoma) International Airport, is approximately 55 minutes north of Olympia, WA. The drive from the airport to campus can take between 1-3 hours depending on traffic.

For transport from SeaTac, we recommend either renting a vehicle or using the Capital Aeroporter shuttle service. When booking with Capital Aeroporter, make sure to let them know you want to be dropped off at A-Dorm in campus housing (see address above). Renting a car or van can be convenient if you plan to arrive on Sunday or explore the area on Wednesday night.

Parking

Parking is available near the dorms. A parking pass for the week will be available at registration for those driving to campus with a personal vehicle or rental car.

Traveling with family or friends

Due to space limitations, we are only able to accommodate registered institute participants in campus housing. If you plan on traveling with a spouse and/or children please contact us for local hotel information.
